The Prislop Monastery

We leave the guest house in the Sarmizegetusa Regia area, an important area of the Transylvania hotels complexes going to the monastery on the road that passes through Ocolişul Mic, a paved shortcut that carries you on the high hills where you can admire the view of the mountain villages that awaken your feeling of “home”.

A picturesque road, that makes you happy to explore, far from the crowds of national roads, takes us to the grave of Father Arsenie Boca, predicting the beauty we will find there.

Arriving at the monastery, the steps lead us, as if instinctively, to the tomb where we stop for a few minutes. Here the soul finds its peace. The song of the birds envelops us with the joy of living, urging us to move on. We follow the path and reach the cave of St. John of Prislop, a cave that was its cell and home until the end of his days.

With prayer in our hearts we head for the exit, but we take one last look back at this place shrouded in the mystery of the miracles that take place here. A church tower rises above the forest vault and sparkles in the horizon, beaten by the light and heat of the sun, and the cross at its top reminds us that people still know where they came from and where they are going.
