A really accessible place from any Transylvania hotel, the wet Cioclovina Cave, a huge portal from which a water stream comes out, looks like a gate to other realms. One needs an adequate equipment to reach the place.
A long tongue of detritus comes from the water thread to the highness of the chalk wall, marking the path to another cave. The natural entrance in the Dry Cioclovina, which represent an upper floor, fossil, of the karst system Ponorici- Wet Cioclovina, is rarely used. The access is usually made through an artificial gallery, dug by the hand of man for exploiting the guano. Regarding this matter, the Dry Cioclovina Cave was the second in the world with a 50.000 tones of guano which was transported 7,5 kilometer with a troop until Pui Railway Station. But the biggest treasure of this cave is the hallstattian treasury found here. It is the place where the oldest homo sapiens fossils skull was ever found in Romania. Here, in world premiere, a new mineral was described: the Arealit. In Wet Cioclovina Cave were discovered four overlapped paleolithic layers, traces of fireplaces, bones fragments, pebble tools, 600 metal adornment objects, some thousands amber beads, pottery and colored glass.

The road to the cave is the same as the one towards the Red Stone Citadel, starts on the asphalt road that goes from Costeşti village, an important accommodation area near Sarmizegetusa, to Ludeşti village, Orăştie direction. From Ludeşti the road continue to the left towards Ocolişul Mic, Boşorod, Luncani. The asphalt will end and continue on the forest road. At 2 km from the exit of Luncani, an sign to the left tells us that there are 2 km to the Red Stone Citadel. You will pass it and you will continue straight ahead on the main road. At the first crossroads, where you can leave the river to the left, turn right beside the mountain. The road without signs will look long and difficult but keep in mind that the river springs from the cave and you will find it.
To get to the waterfalls you have to follow the water course that you have on the left side, and where it passes under the road, on the right side, park the car and take it on the right path.
To reach the cave, return to the main road and walk for a few more minutes until you reach the gate of a garden on the right. Access is on the path through this garden for a few minutes.
The main road leads to the Guano Cave, this cave being above Cioclovina with Water. Not long before reaching the Guano cave, will be the last house on the left in a curve that goes up right. The trail to Wet Cioclovina lies below this house.
