{"id":373,"date":"2020-11-27T13:05:26","date_gmt":"2020-11-27T11:05:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pensiuneacotiso.ro\/?p=373"},"modified":"2020-10-16T09:09:19","modified_gmt":"2020-10-16T06:09:19","slug":"the-saint-nicholas-church-of-densus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pensiuneacotiso.ro\/en\/blog\/the-saint-nicholas-church-of-densus\/","title":{"rendered":"The Saint Nicholas Church of Densu\u015f"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>All the land of Hunedoara, from Cioclovina-Ponorici to P\u0103durime, from Ha\u0163eg to the Mure\u015f Valley, has something mysterious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the way to Ulpia Traiana <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pensiuneacotiso.ro\/en\/\">Srmizegetusa<\/a>, the Roman capital of Dacia Felix, you can see the old Densu\u015f church (where Nicolae Densu\u015fianu, the author of the utopia &#8220;Prehistoric Dacia&#8221; was born) &#8211; after some, temple dedicated to Mars, in which there are eight Roman altars; after others, a 13th-century Christian church built with stone brought just from the old Roman metropolis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main artist was an exponent of the South-Carpathian mediaeval art named Stephen, his name being engraved at the entrance to the church. His work and that of the other masters can still be admired, preserving to this day fragments of mural painting, dating from 1443.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This simultaneity of times and histories is felt in the ancient vestiges, in the stories of the people, but especially in a twilight air of the place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The church is located in Densu\u015f village and the road is accessible by any car, one hour away from Coste\u0219ti, an important area of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pensiuneacotiso.ro\/en\/\">Transylvania hotels<\/a> complexes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>All the land of Hunedoara, from Cioclovina-Ponorici to P\u0103durime, from Ha\u0163eg to the Mure\u015f Valley, has something mysterious.
