The Godeanu Peak, considered by some authors Kogaionon, the holy mountain of the Dacians, is visible from the heights of all Dacian citadels in the area, even from Golu and C\u0103p\u00e2lna, which are more distant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trail stars from Sarmizegetusa<\/a> Regia and takes about 4h and 30 min. As in all, the beginning is harder, literally speaking. We, a group of mostly young people who have gone on such hiking, took a break after the first 15 minutes of climbing. But do not be frightened, with a little courage and determination you will go on a wonderful trail. We had in the group a vivid example of determination, a lady who showed us that you have to really want it to succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Legend says that on this route the Dacian children were initiated. They had to reach Godeanu peak to become adults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the first peak that is steeper, the road becomes easier and you will not find it so hard anymore. The forest will delight your eyes with its charms every step, and the song of the birds \u2026 therapy for the soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the way, if you are lucky, you can admire the transhumance in its splendor: the shepherd and its sheep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you reach the top, your soul will be filled with bliss at the sight that lies at your feet, a complete panorama of the valleys and all the heights in this area, the Strei Valley from the springs to the mouth and the Mure\u015f from Alba up to the limit between Arad and Hunedoara. The mountain chains \u015eureanu, Par\u00e2ng, Retezat, Vulcan, Poiana Rusc\u0103i and Metaliferi are perfectly visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the way back to our Transylvania hotel<\/a>, we stopped in a glade full of blackberries where we served the dessert and where we did not want to leave again. It was a pity that he was getting dark. The return trail took us 4 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
